RBC
#4, Half the way there.
The 4th installment, can you believe it? We're
half way finished. I can't, guess I expected so much to be shut
down, that I never really even considered what it would be like
to finish this album. I was thinking about it toda, and I realized
when this is done, it will be another record in the can that
I've played bass on every track. Perhaps this record only exist
on an MP3 play list, but it's legitimate to me all the same.
I know I really pushed the musician geek envelope by showing
off my basses last week, I apologize for being so boring. OK
this week we did another 2 songs, The Union Forever
and The Same Boy You've Always Known
The Union Forever:
This is the first song I've done that has keyboards on it as
well. Since the low end is somewhat covered I had to find another
place in the mix for myself. Basically I just resorted to doing
the best Bill Wyman I could come up with.
If you will notice during the recitative section
my bass line is very reminiscent of the intro to 2000
Light Years From Home. Big thundering bass chords in
unison with Jack during the chorus, and then
during the rest of of the song I just tried to stay out of Jack
and Meg's way. Great usage of the tri tone
or augmented 4th. During Medieval times this particular interval
was known as the Devils Music and was forbidden
by the Church to be played, and then whatever a thousand years
later Black Sabbath make an entire career out
of it.
The Same Boy You've Always Known:
I'm not sure what happened to me when I did this one, but it
has to be the most noodleing I've ever committed to tape. I
think I'll change my name to Noodles ...yeah
that's it ... "I'm Noodles White. Ya know
Jack and Meg's older brother?" I
wonder what all of our siblings names are. That's actually
a good trivia question, I should come up with some sort of
give
away just so I can find out the names of all of Jack
and Meg's ... what is it 8 siblings? I hope
there's a Peanut White in there somewhere,
or perhaps Pigeon, Pigeon
is a name Jeff likes to throw around a lot
actually.
So I've been thinking now that we're at the half way mark, it
might be a good time to take a breath and reflect on our achievements
so far. I know that a lot of people have just now caught on
to Redd Blood Cells, and missed the earlier
installments. Instead of plowing ahead with next week's songs
as planned, I would like to give all of our new friends the
opportunity to catch up to the rest of us. What I would like
to do is this: starting this coming Monday we will do a review
week. Since there are 8 songs completed I would like to review
one song a day, with the two most recent songs being posted
on the Sunday. In other words we'll have Dirty Leaves
on Monday the 1st of July and then Hotel Yorba
on the 2nd etc. and then on to Sunday the 7th when we'll have
the two most recent tracks. Then of course on Monday the 8th
we will be getting back in to the thick of it with the ferocious
We're Going to be Friends. Got
that..? OK mark your calendars cause you only get one day with
each track.
Enjoy,
Noodles
